This is for a 96 Nissan Centra....I was told I only needed a few hoses and an intake manifold but now this guy is finding more things and the price is skyrocketing!!! he wants to add on $300 to put on a new water pump...is he over charging me???How much should it cost to get a water pump replaced?The waterpump for your car from advanced auto parts is only 40 bucks, Labor should only run around 150.
But that is not the start of the problem, In all my years, I have never seen an intake manifold break. I think you got a hold of a hack mechanic. My advice is to have you car towed to another service shop, and ask for the old parts he took off of your car. Do not, I repeat DO NOT pay for any part he can not give you an old part for. Don't pay for the labor on said part either.How much should it cost to get a water pump replaced?Since the water pump is hidden behind the timing belt, you would need to disassemble a lot of the engine to get to it, so the labour cost is going to be very high even though the pump itself is quite cheap. I suggest changing your timing belt too, since you're going to have to pay the same amount of money for labour to replace it when it's next due... might as well get both done for the price of one.How much should it cost to get a water pump replaced?$300 for a water pump isn't bad if that includes parts. It cost me like $400+ to get a new water pump put in. I'd suggest you get the new water pump put in as you really do not want to know the consequences of having you water pump go out.

Can someone tell me how to stop a water pump leak.?
I've heard that you can stop a water pump leak on a automobile doing different things, others have told me that you can't. Ejector pump tank full of water, after replacement with a new one, why?
In my basement, there is an ejector pump to pump water to the sewer. It pumped water very slowly. I called a plumber, and he told me I need to replace the ejector pump. He charged me $550 for this job.
Two days after, the pump is not working, the water continued to go thru the pump and won't stop. We had to turn off the pump to stop the continued water pumping.
The plumber came again today and he said there are two problems, that he did not diagnose before:
1) In the room where the water softener is, there is one pipe that is connected to ejector pump, there is a blockage in the pipe, which slowed down the pumping water out to the sewer. He has fixed this blockage today.
2) The 2nd issue is the container/tub (ejector pump tank) was full of water, and he is not sure why that happened. He said the tank was not full of water, the first time when he came last week to give estimate. But when he came the 2nd time to replace the ejector pump, he said the tank was full of water, so as today. He asked us to keep an eye on it, in case the tank is full of water again.
I do not like his answer, that means he does not know how to fix it, and charged me with $550. Can you help with this situation. Do you know what could possibly wrong to cause the ejector pump tank to be full of water, even after he replaced with a new ejector pump. the power comes from dividing by how long it takes to do this - power is energy / time. so P = mgh/t. that means the pump requires that much power to do so.
so, if you decrease h in the above equation, the power goes down. it is a linear relationship, so if you halve the height over which you are pumping, you halve the amount of power required.
note that this ignores the frictional nature of water, which is reasonable if the water is not moving very fast in the pump or pipes. if it is, you have a more complicated problem.
