I have a 1994 Toyota 4 Runner, 4X4, 5 sp manual, 6 cyl. I'm wanting to know how much it would cost to have the water pump replaced by a mechanic. I for 1, don't know how to do it, and 2, don't have the time to do it. So with labor and everything, want to know how bad it's going to hurt the wallet. I would also like to know your sources of how you are getting your information that would be very helpful.

Bumper 2 Bumper = $51.82 is commercial price in my area but all shops usually multiply by 2.0 to 2.5 for warranty issues and there is no way to avoid this more than double markup
3. More parts... it takes about 2 gallons of coolant to refill system after replacement. usually 15 bucks a gallon

How do I get the tentioner back in place after changing my water pump?
I have a 91 saturn 5 speed. I changed the water pump but now I can't get the tentioner thing to go back in place in order to turn the serpentine belt. Is there a secret to this? How do I replace the water pump of a '98 Nissan Pathfinder?
I have a '98 Nissan Pathfinder but I have to put in a new water pump (the old one was removed by someone else, so I don't know where it was). Any IMAGES or MANUALS would be great, but I can't really do it if there are no pics.

This is very straight forward and easy to do. Just make sure you put the bolts back in the correct holes. That is, do not try and put a bolt that is too long in a hole where a short one goes. Do not overtighten bolts. Use a small amount of high grade silicone on both sides of each gasket. Just a trace is fine. It helps seal leaks and also helps hold the gasket in alignment when you set the pump. Make sure both surfaces are perfectly clean with no old gasket material. Do not tighten any of the bolts until all are in and then do it in a sequence, tightening them a small. Go from bolt to bolt, tightening them a bit at a time until you reach the correct torque as described in the EHOW descripton. You can do this just fine.vc are you responsible

My water pump to my well is not getting enough pressure to turn it's self off. I have a pre-charged air tank and it has about 36 p.s.i. My pump is set to shut off at about 48 p.s.i, should I put more air in the air tank? Or am I wasting my time with that route? These motors are notorious for squeaky idler pulleys. Find the idler pulley, and spray the surface of it while the engine is running. Belt dressing is fine for this. If it stops squeaking, it's the pulley. Way cheaper, and not as important to fix.
What happens, is the pulley is more of a wheel. It hasn't any shoulders to keep it in-line. If it is turned slightly to either side, the belt is dragging incorrectly across the surface, at a slight diagonal, causing the squeal.
For water pump installation, get the book from your auto parts store. There is no way someone can describe all of this here. Remove the bolts from the water pump and remove. Installing is reverse of removal.
