How do you unattach the hose to the water pump of Ford Windsar van. seems to be wedged together?

Can't get it loose. what tool should I sure to loosen it from water pump.How do you unattach the hose to the water pump of Ford Windsar van. seems to be wedged together?If memory serves, the hose should be attached to a fitting which screws into the water pump. I think the fitting must be unscrewed and then the hose can be removed from the fitting. Usually the hose wedges into those type fittings with a small clip.
