I would rather not get ripped off, and I am not up to date with things like this. I did get an estimate from a ford dealership and they said it would cost $640 to replace the water pump, and that isn't including any other repairs.How much would it cost to have a dealership replace a water pump on a ford escort 1991 and not get ripped off.That's probably about right they wanted 400 to change the timing belt on my sons Focus, That did not include the water pump or tensioner. I changed them all myself for under 100 dollars. Did you try more than one dealership? If not, call some more and get the best bid or call some friends and ask if they got mechanics, sometimes it helps. They might even give you a good deal. Besides dealerships are always expensive.
